This course explores what compassion is, why it might be beneficial to us and the world around us, the possibility of training in a more wholesome way of being, and how we can go about that training.
The course allows students to:
- Gain knowledge and awareness by looking into different aspects of compassion: from their own point of view and experience, from a modern scientific point of view, as well as from the Buddhist perspective.
- Deepen and internalize their knowledge and understanding
- Familiarize themselves with the experience of compassion and establish the habit of compassion in daily life.
During the course students are introduced to a Tibetan Buddhist perspective on compassion, why it is beneficial, and practices to promote a more wholesome way of being. They will explore compassion from their own point of view and experience and from a scientific point of view, as well as from the Buddhist perspective.
